Absolutely spot on about doing the right thing. Career development is not always upwards or lateral. A seemingly demotion can propel one to greater height as long as there is a purpose in mind. #growthmindset

Today marked my last day at ABN AMRO Bank N.V. Over the past 2 years I've had the opportunity of working in the Capital Management team within the broader Asset and Liability Management team. Thus far, it has been the highlight of my career.I started my career on the lending side and whilst it sharpened my commercial wit, I felt I lacked an understanding of the broader workings of FI's. When I moved to the Netherlands, my aim was clear, to be at the centre of a bank. To learn how it truly operates and all the high level decisions that need to be considered in quite some detail. What better place than ALM/T I thought, and I couldn't have been more right. I quickly came to realise that ALM's reputation of being "the bank within the bank" was well founded and that it truly is the centre of the institution. In my words, I believe it to be the brain of the bank. Not for all of the incredibly talented people who work there (which is definitely true) , but rather because every meaningful decision that is taken, is first stamped with ALMs approval. Imagine the satisfaction of being a part of a team with that influence. For this and many more, I truly believe there was no better start for my career here. After all, what organisation can thrive without a neurological centre with connections to the rest? For this incredible opportunity, I would like to give special thanks to Hiddo Stenvers, who was the best role model, mentor and manager I could have asked for. He, as well as some of my other mentors, due to their immense talent and fierce determination, have also moved on to new roles. Thus teaching me that change in the name of growth can always be justified. I won't mention their names but they surely know their influence on my growth and personal development both in the office and in life. Naturally as a human and as I type this, I consider if this is Infact the right decision. I strongly believe it to be the case and the fact that I question it all the more confirms that ABN and more specifically ALM was an amazing place to work. So what next? That will come soon, but I now have a bit of a history of choosing organisations with bright and motivated individuals and my next endeavour is at a place that I believe is even more so. Change for the sake of growth is imperative and I'm excited for this next chapter and I have a feeling it will be a long one. We keep moving forward.

Such incredible and important work that Cara Chicago and BMO are investing in - providing the skills and opportunities for job seekers in underinvested communities to break into industries that don't often have these on ramps! We need more of this.
